Taloh adamant on mass transfer, biometric device to implant in every school to check absenteeism

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: Education Minister Tapang Taloh today stated that the education department will not reconsider the decision of mass transfer of teachers. Speaking to media persons at Press Club here today, the education minister justified the move claiming that decision was taken after the recommendation of Joint Coordination Committee (comprising of Cabinet Ministers and legislators of the State Assembly).

The major reshuffling of teachers from their respective posting places in mid academic session by the education department drew flak from all quarters especially from the teaching community who termed that the move would have detrimental effect on Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system in the schools.

The Education Minister further clarified that mass reshuffling was done with prime objective to rationalize the education system so that it streamlined the teacher shortage issue. He out rightly denied that there was no political-revenge against the teachers who voted against him during the Assembly election which few sections of people from his constituency were alleging.

“In order to maintain transparency and impartiality, every teacher had to go through five layers of screening in the department before being issued the transfer order,” Taloh said.

“I took this bold step while keeping in view of those children who are yet to see teachers at their schools and schools which are on the verge of defunct due to negligence of teachers” he added.

He also said that most of the teachers are reluctant to go outside their home district, causing unnecessary gridlock in the district. Clarifying that no mid-session would be hampered by mass transfers, Taloh said, “As there is excessive numbers of teachers, how can the mid-session be hampered”.

The education minister made shocking revelation that the three districts namely East Siang, Papum Pare and West Siang have excessive number of teachers. East Siang is the top with 771, Papum Pare 660 and West Siang 414. On the other hand Upper Subansiri topped the shortage of teachers table with 174 requirements, Changlang 123, Tirap 107, Kurung Kumey 104 and East Kameng 83 respectively.

Interestingly, with Taloh digging the skeletons of the department, the trend of excessive number of teachers in a district had been going on since last many years. Irked with the growing tendency of teacher absenteeism, Taloh divulged that education department is mulling over to implant biometric device in every government school across the state to check absentee teachers. He added the department under his guidance would very soon come up with a strong mechanism to deal with absentee teachers.

The minister further called for support from the society and especially from the legislators in his quest to reform the education sector. The education department had issued a mass transfer order with vide no. EED.2/397/2014 dated 11th Sept 2014 in which more than five hundreds teachers across the state were transferred from their respective posting places.

Meanwhile in a representation to the Deputy Commissioner Pasighat today, several East Siang based organizations have strongly registered their protest and resentment over the mass transfer and posting of teachers in East Siang District and Pasighat in particular during the mid-session. The organizations stated that the mass transfer and postings would affect not only the teaching and student community but also the parents and entire society as a whole.

While terming the mid-session transfer a complete illogical and unscheduled move of the state government, the organizations have resolved to appeal the concern authority for immediate reconsideration, revocation and not to release the teachers, failing which the organization threatened to launch democratic agitation shortly to stress their legitimate demand for the welfare of teachers, students and the society. The various organizations includes, ABK East Siang, BJP Mandal 38th Pasighat, Bogong Banggo Kebang, Pasighat Citizens Welfare Society, All Bogong Students’ Union, AdiSu, AESDSU, All Adi Youth Association etc. Obit Tamuk BJP Mandal President 38th Pasighat said that, East Siang district has been singled out and humiliated as rest of other districts have not been affected under mass transfer which is a gross partiality.

Karsingsa block point opens for vehicular movement

KARSINGSA, Oct 8: PWD Minister Gojen Gadi along with PWD Parliamentary Secretary Alo Libang today declared the Karsingsa block point open facilitating traffic movement on NH 52-A (Baderdewa-Nirjuli), much ahead of the October 31 deadline.

A major portion of the NH at this sinking zone was washed way by the Dikrong River which had forced diversion of the vehicular traffic movement through the Bage Tinali-Doimukh-Gumto-Banderdewa road from August 15 last.

“The PWD engineers, contractors and labourers worked round the clock braving the torrential rain to accomplish the Herculean task much ahead of the target for which they deserve appreciation”, the duo said before flagging off the vehicles. The work to improve the Capital Complex road would continue, Gadi said while addressing the media persons in presence of the PWD commissioner Ganesh Koyu, engineers’ team led PWD (Highway) EE Gyati Khoda, ZPM Kipa Aruni, Councillor Tai Tasung, BWC president AK Loram, block branch Congress president Nilam Tang of Banderdewa, Karsingsa ASM Tanyang Kipa and the public.

“The Hollongi-Itanagar road would be completed by October end while tenders for the Itanagar-Banderdewa four-lane would be floated by November. Union Minister for Road, Transport & Highway Nitin Gadkari has assured to speed up the project and release the fund timely which would be expedited by Union MoS (Home) Kiren Rjiju,” he informed.

He thanked the people for their cooperation in diverting the NH while the public including elected leaders also reciprocated Gadi for his keen interest in improving the road network in the state.

The team also inspected the diverted wide road later when Gadi-Libang lauded the painstaking efforts in developing the road at a much shorter time.

Governor calls for border area development

Many important road projects in the pipeline: Rijiju

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that many important road projects including the ‘Frontier Highway’ are in the pipeline for Arunachal Pradesh. ‘Frontier Highway’ will be constructed along the Line of Actual Control (LoC). The road will be strategically very important and will be highly beneficial for the people, particularly those living in the border areas. Rijiju disclosed these projects before the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma, who is on an official tour to the National Capital and met him in New Delhi today.

Rijiju further informed that that the project would be put to action very soon along with other projects, including those under police modernization.

During the meeting, both the Governor and the Union Minister discussed on connectivity, border area development and police modernization in the state.

The Governor emphasized that various projects taken up by the Government of India in the State must be urgently implemented, particularly road connectivity for the welfare of the people. He stressed on ensuring proper shelter, food and habitat for the people living in border areas.

The Governor also emphasized on releasing funds for pending proposals of the State involving setting up of eleven new Police Stations and up-gradation of nine existing Police Stations in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts.

Kokila ASM stabbed to death

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: In an unfortunate incident Diganta Teron(34) Anchal Samity Member of 32 Kokila Panchayat of Kokila Village under Balijan circle of Papum Pare was stabbed to death allegedly by one Nabam Taya (32) this morning, said police official.

Police added that the incident occurred around 2.30 am at Kokila village when accused allegedly went to the victim’s house in a white Bolero and started kicking at the door asking him to come out.

When the victim came out, the accused stabbed him with a dagger below the hips twice. Later he was evacuated to RK Mission Hospital and declared death, police said. The reason for stabbing is yet to be known as the case is under investigation, police added. A murder case is being registered with Police Station Balijan, police informed. Meanwhile, the accused had reportedly surrendered before the Doimukh police station this morning. Late Diganta was born on Jan 9 1980. Before joining politics, he worked with ATV as a cameraman and later worked as a resource person in DDK Itanagar. He was elected unopposed from Congress ticket as ASM 32 Kokila Panchayat in 2013.

Expressing deep shock at the sudden demise of Teron, Arunachal Press Club and Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists have deeply mourned the death. In a press statement the media fraternity stated that Late Diganta’s association with media fraternity will be fondly remembered. In its condolence message to the bereaved family members, the press bodies offered prayers for eternal peace of the departed soul. Further, it appealed to the law enforcing agency to give exemplary punishment to the culprit. Condemning the crime, Karbi Students Association Kokila also demanded the authority to give stringent punishment to the culprit for committing the cold-blooded murder.

Hapoli IB handed over to PWD for renovation

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The Lower Subansiri District Administration has handed over the Inspection Bungalow situated at Hapoli to the PWD for maintenance and renovation. The DA had recently removed all the illegal encroachers from the compound of the IB area. The Hapoli IB, which was one of the most beautiful structures in the town, originally built in the 1960s and renovated and extended in 80s and 90s had been systematically encroached by private persons and got allocations illegally for residential purposes.

In a sustained effort by the District Administration over the past four months, beginning with serving of notices by the Estate Officer/ADC Ziro and concerted efforts by Town Magistrate cum EAC Tame Yajum in removing the encroachments, the IB was finally handed over to the PWD this month. The DLRSO Ziro was also directed to hand over the exact land, which is more than two acres to the PWD after proper measurement by the surveyors for including a multi-storied government guest house in the AoP proposal for the year 2014-15.

Deputy Commissioner Krishna Mohan Uppu opined that Yachuli, Ziro and Raga host lot of tourists, government officials and VIP guests throughout the year and the district administration is facing problems in arranging the logistics for them. The retrieval of this prime land in the heart of Hapoli would enable the District Administration to propose for a multi-storied Circuit House Annexe for the approval of the government. He further informed that all the HoDs have been ordered to direct their staff to remove all illegal encroachments apart from the original PWD house structures and photography of structures by DLRSO have been made mandatory for all inspection reports for NoC/Vigilance clearance to the government employees for processing their cases for promotion/retirement benefits etc.

ASU demands arrest of culprits within seven days

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The Apatani Students Union (ASU) has demanded arrest of all accused persons involved in the mysterious killing of Hage Hassang and alleged sexual assault on a girl on Oct 5 at Ziro.

In an ultimatum addressed to the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, the ASU urged him to direct the investigating authority to book the accused persons of the heinous crime within seven days to avoid any democratic movement.

Alleging total failure of the law enforcing authority, the Union expressed its resentment that despite an FIR lodged by the parents of both the victim parties on Oct 5, the police have failed to achieve any breakthrough till date. It further demanded speedy trial of the case and immediate charge sheet against the accused persons.

Meanwhile, ASU decided to organize a peaceful candle light march on Oct 9 at Ziro to show solidarity to the bereaved family of the victims. Condemning the mysterious killing of Hage Hassang, the Apatani Students’ Union, Capital Complex –Itanagar, (ASUCC-I) demanded the district administration to speed up investigation process and nab the culprit(s) immediately. It further urged the administration to set up police beat houses at vital points like school check gates, medical colony, Hapoli, Old Ziro market etc to improve security system.

Theravada Buddhist celebrates Sitang Pot-wa

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: Theravada Buddhists residing in Capital Complex observed Sitang Pot-wa (in Tai-Khampti) festival or Retreat Ending Day at Theravada Buddhist Temple in Itanagar today.

Sitang Pot-wa is the last day of the three month Sitang Khao-wa or Rains Retreat which falls on the full moon day of the eleventh lunar month (October). It marks the end of the Buddhist 'Lent 'which is a moral camping period for monks. It is believed that after performing the ‘Sitang Khao-wa or Rainy retreat’ for three months as well as devoting themselves in the practice of Dhamma, the monks comes out with more holiness in soul and body.

Delivering his discourse on the occasion, head monk of Theravada Buddha Temple, Ratna Diip highlighted the importance and significance of Sitang Pot-wa celebration and essence of observing the three months rainy retreat.

The three month period which starts from Sitang Khao-wa is often used by lay and monastic folk alike to make a variety of determinations; to take up a particular devotional or meditation practice, to challenge or renounce some old and bad habits.

Reciting the story and verse of Buddha from the Pali Canon, a standard collection of scriptures in the Theravada Buddhist tradition, as preserved in the Pali language, he called upon all the people to beautifully amalgamate the pre-Buddhist practices and culture with the principles and practices of Theravada School of Buddhism as practiced today, as this merger of two different beliefs and practices can make the religion and culture even more attractive, dynamic and beautiful.

Other highlights of the celebration included illumination of lamps in temple premises besides offering foods to the monks, listening to sermons, praying and observing the Buddhist five and eight Precepts.

‘No substitute for human blood; it can only come from donors’

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: There is still no substitute for human blood and it can come from donors only, said Changlang ADC H Matcha.

Addressing the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day at District Hospital, Khonsa today, Matcha said, “Although medical science has developed tremendously during the last decades, scientists are still to develop a real substitute for human blood.” He called upon all eligible donors to donate blood voluntarily to save someone’s life. The ADC advocated that notifying blood group on EPIC would be an easier way to track someone’s blood group.

Earlier, Khonsa DMO informed the participants that only 9 million units of blood are collected annually in the country against the total requirement of 12 million units. Clarifying myths and wrong notions regarding blood donation, he requested the gathering to disseminate the information that there is no harm in donating blood. He cited the example of one Gabruddin, a resident of Sonepat, who has donated 157 units of blood so far. He was felicitated by the Union Minister of Health on October 1 last for this noble cause,

Capital admin conducts disaster preparedness awareness prog

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: District Disaster Management Centre, Capital Complex observed Disaster Risk Reduction Day today by organizing awareness programmes on disaster risk reduction and preparedness at several locations within the Capital Complex.

Mock drills were conducted by SDRF and fire officers at various schools in Itanagar and Naharlagun with participation of school children and general public. In Itanagar, Holy Cross School at Nyokum Lapang was selected and awareness programme was conducted in presence of Kime Aya, SP, Fire Service and Jiken Bomjen, EAC, Itanagar where school children were taught about disaster preparedness and response skills during and after disaster.

At Government Higher Secondary School, Itanagar, the awareness programme was conducted by Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Mige Kamki. He briefed the students about necessary precautions to be taken during disaster and called upon the students to work as volunteers during such emergencies.

Similar awareness programme was also conducted at Good Shepherd School, Naharlagun by Nangram Pingkap, Circle Officer, Naharlagun. Mock demonstration was also conducted inside and outside the school buildings.

Four illegal MCUs seized

PASIGHAT, Oct 8: Based on intelligence reports, Bani Lego (EAC), Chairman of District Task Force Committee (DTFC) along with T Mibang (ACF), M Jamoh (ADI), Mukin Megu (EO), forest and police personnel raided the unauthorized sawing mills and sawing units in Ruksin area.

According to Lego, the task force seized upon four illegally run saw mills and good number of logs during the drive under appropriate Forest and Industry Acts. The owners of the units and mills in the area were running their businesses illegally. They had obtained permits to setup ‘Mechanized Carpentry Unit’ (MCU) in notified Industrial Area but practically they were stocking and sawing logs and operating banned saws illegally.

He further informed that a meeting under the chairmanship of the East Siang DC Nidhi Srivastava was held earlier on Sept-5 last, where the DC emphasized on total curbing of illegal timber operation in the district. She had directed the DTFC to keep vigil on timber related illegalities and to seize the timber which does not possess hammer mark and transit pass issued by the forest department, added Lego. DIPRO

CASFOS trainees visit Eagle Nest Wildlife Sanctuary

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: A group of officer trainees from Central Academy for State Forest Services (CASFOS), Dehradun visited Eagle Nest Wildlife Sanctuary yesterday as part of their East India Tour.

During the visit, DFO Millo Tasser briefed the officer trainees about the sanctuary through PowerPoint presentation and also highlighted various management interventions carried out in the sanctuary. The officer trainees discussed various issues concerning the sanctuary with the staff of Eagle Nest Wildlife sanctuary. The officer trainees also trekked upto Trgaopanda lake and sighted Wards’s Trogon, a special bird found in Eagle Nest.

Later in the day, the officer trainees visited the Eco-Tourism camp run by Bugun Welfare Society and interacted with them. They also visited the fringe villages around the sanctuary to see the eco developmental activities of the department and understand the lifestyle of the villagers vis-a-vis Eagle Nest wildlife sanctuary.

At Thungree village, the officer trainees were addressed by Sange Tashi Thongdok, ZPM Rupa-Shergaon and at Singchung village, they were addressed by Naresh Glow, former minister. The officer trainees interacted with the villagers and also participated in the cultural programmes presented by the villagers.

The 31 day East India tour of the officer trainees which started at Bhubaneswar culminated at Rupa in Arunachal Pradesh.

The group comprising of 39 officer trainees including 9 lady officers from various states across India were accompanied by N. Sonzalian, Principal of CASFOS.

Wild life week celebration ends

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The week long observation of 60th Wildlife Week which started on 22nd October last ended today with an impressive function being held in the Conference hall of PCCF Office, Itanagar. During the Wildlife Week observation, department of environment and forest conducted an essay and painting competition for the school children from Classes I to XII.

Hundreds of children took part in it. The closing function was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Environment and Forest CT Mein. He gave away the certificates, trophies and cash prizes to the winners. Later addressing the gathering, CT Mein urged the children to dissuade their friends from using catapults and air guns, which is generally used to kill birds. “Every child should select two trees from their surrounding and record details like name, leaf season, flowering and fruit time, type of fruit and lastly the economic value. They should also monitor the type of birds that visit the trees. Like this, the children will develop relation with the trees and will never let it harm. This is one of the ways of saving environment,” said Mein. He also extended his congratulation to the prize winners.

PCCF cum principal secretary (E & F) Omkar Singh and PCCF (WL & BD) Dr. Yogesh also spoke on the occasion. Both of them emphasized the need to co-operate and create awareness among general public in protecting wildlife and forest of the state. The school children of Govt. Middle School, Niti-Vihar attended the function. They also delivered speech on wildlife importance and its conservation.

APPSU express concern over slow progress of Kampo to Tapioso road project

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The All Papum Poma Student’s union (APPSU) has questioned the role of TK Construction agency and PWD for slow progress of Kampo to Tapioso road project under NLCPR scheme. The union urged the contractor to properly execute the work and maintain quality as per the guidelines of the scheme. They also appealed for early construction of RCC Bridge over Papum River.

Meanwhile APPSU has appealed to the PWD Doimukh division for early execution of the maintenance work on Gohpur to Jote road as working season has already approached. “The said stretch of road is in dilapidated condition. Citizens are suffering a lot due to it,” the union added.

NES welcomes promotion of Ori

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: The Nyishi Elite Society (NES) has welcomed the promotion of Mokir Ori, Secretary General, Galo Welfare Society (GWS) to the responsible post of Director, Project Monitoring of the Planning Department of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. NES hope that people of Arunachal will harvest rich dividend from his vast experience in the planning process and monitoring of the scheme implementation.

“The post of the Director, Project Monitoring is a befitting assignment for a man of his caliber and experience. This is a joyous moment for all the community social workers of the state,” the NES stated in a release.

They further added, “We hope with his amiable and soft spoken nature, he shall further cement fraternity, unity and integrity of Arunachal Pradesh while propagating vital social responsibility towards-‘PAN ARUNACHAL APPROACH’, as the Secretary General of Galo Welfare Society.”

BJP unit writes to PM

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: The Arunachal Pradesh is most corrupt state and the politicians are involved in corruption, alleged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Papum Pare district unit in its letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Claiming that it has sought public view on the present state of affairs, BJP unit alleged that the state Govt is facing serious financial crisis. It further alleged misuse of SSA funds and said that the Govt is not able to release salaries of SSA teachers since July last. Referring to the PDS scam and the hydro power MoUs, it claimed, if investigated, a multi crore corruption would be found in PDS and the hydro power sector.

ASYF gives 30 days ultimatum

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: The All Sagalee Youth Federation (ASYF) has given a month’s time to the state Govt to fulfill its charter of demands.

In an ultimatum submitted to the Chief Minister through the Chief Secretary today, the ASYF expressed resentment that the competent authority of the state Govt did not pay heed to its seven-point charter of demands even after a month. Informing that the federation had submitted its charter of demand on Sept 2 last, it threatened to launch a series of movement in case of failure of the Govt to fulfill its demand within the given time.

The charter of the demands of the ASYF included immediate establishment of State Bank of India (SBI) branch, sub-treasury office at Sagalee, immediate activation of three BSNL mobile towers at Meb, Leporiang and Mengio, Fire station at Sagalee Police Station, renovation of Sagalee CHC and establishments of petrol pump, Navodaya/VKV at Sagalee.

BSNL seeks cooperation

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: The BSNL authority in a release today informed that the installation works of DSPT (VPT) and other works like MHA connections are halted for the time being due to some technical problems in the DSPT equipments received recently. The matter has been taken up with higher office and the installation of DSPTs shall be resumed after resolving the technical problems by the Corporate Office, New Delhi, the release said while requesting all DSPT applicants to extend co-operation.

VMC demands Principal

ITANAGAR, Oct 08: The Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) and parents of students of Yachuli JNV have urged the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner, who is also the chairman of the school, for posting a regular Principal in the school.

The Committee, in their representation to the Deputy Commissioner informed that the school has been running without a Principal since last one year which has resulted in poor academic atmosphere. The school committee urged the DC to take up the problems being faced by the school and the students due to absence of a regular principal with higher authority of JNV and press for early posting of the principal. Informing that few teachers and one staff nurse of the school are being transferred, the school management committee urged the DC to ensure that these teachers are not transferred either before the end of the current academic session or reliever teachers join the school.

It also demanded erection of brick wall around the school compound.

Branch APWWS condemns rape and murder

ITANAGAR, Oct 8: Lower Subansiri (Ziro) branch of Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) condemned in its strongest term the recent rape of a teenage girl and murder of a teenage boy at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Ziro campus on October 5. The APWWS in a letter to the Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner demanded prompt investigation into the cases, arrest of the accused involved in the incidents and deliver justice to the victims.

Politics over ceasefire violation

There seems to be no respite for the people of Jammu and Kashmir as Pakistani forces continued shelling along the international boundary. As per the latest information two women have been killed and 11 people injured as Pakistani troops targeted 50 security outposts and three dozen hamlets with heavy mortar shelling and firing overnight along the entire 192-km international border in Jammu & Kashmir. Extending the ceasefire violations to new areas, Pakistan Rangers shelled border outposts (BoPs) and villages in Samba and Kathua along with Jammu on Tuesday night. Border Security Forces is believed to have strongly retaliated to the Pak aggressions.

While the villagers are suffering, politicians are busy taking potshot at each other. Shiv Sena on Wednesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue of ceasefire violations by Pakistan, saying he should focus on stopping the "atrocities" by the neighbouring country and not Maharashtra politics. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi also lashed out at PM during an election rally at Maharasthra. Prime Minister Modi who has been surprisingly maintaining stoic silence over the issue, this evening issued a statement saying “everything will be fine soon." Political parties should stop playing politics over national security issue. They should forge united front and tell Pakistanis to stop violating cease fire.

Hinium Itanagar value ILP

Dear Editor,

I would like to post an opinion about a letter that was published in your daily on 1.10.14 regarding the Inner Line Permits and why can we go outside but outsider can’t come in to our state.

The Inner Line was introduced by the British Govt in 1873 under the provision of Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation to protect us from being exploited by the mainlanders who were century of generation ahead of us.

The proposal to introduce ILP has been continuously made by the government of Manipur and Tripura but unfortunately it is being rejected by the central govt. We must be thankful that we are blessed with ILP and we should value it.

It is also evident that due to the lack of proper functioning of ILP, crimes rate is raising rapidly.

So, it is in our hands to decide the fate of Arunachal Pradesh whether to make it as Tripura where our children will be minority and be dominated or a place where every denizen will be proud of its culture, natural-beauty and identity.

Who are they ?

Dear Editor,

It has been noticed that your daily entertain letters written by “Aspirants”,” A Candidate”, “aggrieved person” which I think is not justified. If someone has to express their view and feeling regarding any issue, there should be mention of his/her name, so that general public can be aware of intention and genuineness of that particular person. Any member of society has the right to express their own views and such person should not hide their identity. My question is that if people are able to place their view publicly through media, why should they hesitate to disclose their identity? If the demand is genuine, public will obviously support them. Otherwise people may begin to doubt the integrity of “Mr Aspirants”.It is my earnest request to all the media houses of state not to entertain any letter without proper address and contact numbers. Because of this kind of publication in the media, there were controversies in the past.

Not all under Bio metric and CCTV surveillance

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to express my view regarding much hyped Bio metric and CCTV in the office premises.

As we have seen in the most of the Govt offices, these machines are focused towards the Babu’s and D grade staffs whereas HoD’s and other responsible officers are exempted from the Bio metric attendance.

Does it mean that only C and D grade workers are not punctual and irresponsible? The more desirable officers whose signatures are most necessary to the public are not punctual in his/her office causing most inconvenience to the public.

I wonder who will monitor these bosses.

Can anybody enlighten me on the rule or office order why bosses have been exempted from Bio-metric attendance?

The public need responsible officers to be more punctual in their offices rather than C and D grade staffs.

Poem should not have been in revered newspaper

Dear Editor,

This is in response to a poem “The Lady Love” published in the columns of your esteemed paper- on 5th October. I read the poem and it made me think harder and brought many uneven queries simultaneously. I wonder why the management permitted such kinds of poem in the paper.

It was about homo-sexuality between two girls. I truly found it unfit to be given a space in the most revered newspaper of the valley. It will eventually give a negative impact on the readers and that’s degrading. Such type of poems is for books, not for papers. Here, I would also like to add that that the writers have the freedom to pen down any kinds of thoughts sailing in their brains but what I believe is that your team should/ must go through the lines very carefully. And decide whether it is fit for publication or not. You should not boost such kind of poems further.

Having written that, I would like to beg pardon if I had failed to judge the depth of the poem. I felt it best to convey my feelings and concerns to you before sharing the same with others.

The marathon runners

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the sponsors of Jaag Arunachal Bhaag Arunachal about how some participants disobeyed the rules by getting in the trekker and changing their clothes. And when the destination was near how they get off and wore that yellow t shirt again. There was a time gap of 10 minutes between the male and female participants. Male participants were supposed to run when clock strikes to 9:00 am and female at 9:10 am but some of the female participants were off when it was 9:00am. They should have been disqualified but there wasn’t any action taken by the volunteers. Everything happened in open, everybody saw it. This was injustice for the fair participants who really did a lot for this day and they got nothing. So, all we want to say is, if they ever conduct a marathon race in future, please make it a fair one and keep monitoring them.

The ILP drama

Dear Editor,

Most of you must have read about the ILP checking drive in Lower Subansiri District. According to official release, 30-40 non-APST were booked for not having ILP in possession. I suppose those figures are just to eyewash the innocent public. Few days back, I was in car garage for some repairing and maintenance. While interacting with regular mechanic of my car, he told me ILP squad team had visited that particular garage and in and around area. I was happy that at least ILP checking drive has been done. But to my utter dismay, I learnt that those who had card in possession but renewal were pending for several months; a sum of Rs.500 was imposed as a fine. Those who had no permit at all were imposed a sum of Rs.1000 as a penalty and simply allowed to go. But those who failed to pay the fine were filled in trucks and were taken to police station. Nowhere in Inner Line Regulation, 1873 or in any provision of law, I found such tactic of ILP checking and penalty.

It’s obvious our state is embedded in corruption from grass root to highest level and I fear if this sort of negligence from public, concerned officials and our state Govt continues, very soon Arunachal and its people will begin to lose their significance in their very own land. But it’s our very own responsibility to voice and highlight against such negligence and human errors. Am sure this post will hurt and disappoint few but its beneficial for most of us.

Wear helmets

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to write down something about the Bikers who don’t wear helmets. While going to Itanagar from Naharlagun, I see daily checking for vehicle papers and helmets.

I see that many of the bike riders stop just near the checking point and wear helmets which are kept in the handle, carriages, etc. or in the hands of pillion rider and some others retreat for not having helmets.

It is worth here to mention that after purchase of New Motor cycle, a manual is given along with the bike where it is written that “Always wear a helmet with chinstrap securely fastened.”

But I wonder why some of the bikers don’t wear helmets and understand that it is for their safety. Hence, I appeal all the bikers to wear helmets for their own safety and their near and dear ones.
